Whitefish Lake First Nation #459 Child and Family Services Society
Location: Atikameg, AB

Reporting to the Prevention Team Lead of Whitefish Lake #459 Child & Family Services Society.

We are seeking a Full-Time dedicated individual to join the WFLFN #459 Child and Family Services Society team in providing services to children, youth and families who are directly or indirectly involved with the WFLFN #459 Child and Family Services Society programs. The successful candidate will be responsible to plan and facilitate community development and activities, promotes awareness of the services of the WFLFN #459 Child and Family Services and work towards the successful process of greater community-based programming;

Hours of work will be Monday to Friday 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, ability to work evening and weekends, as needed. Salary will be based on Qualifications and Experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Working with children, (youth) and families by assessing strengths and needs and helping to make
connections to resources to enhance their development.

-Building on the strengths of the family and involving extended family members and community resources to assist the family.

- Using early intervention/preventative measures by identifying positive support systems and services for the families.

- Incorporating parenting skills, budgeting, resource development, discipline methods and household management into family activities.

- Conducting home-visits within the community to increase understanding of the child and family services programs and also of community-based programming (i.e., one -one-one services)

- Planning and facilitating community development and activities to meet identified community needs and identified target groups.

- Acting as a liaison between the community and the child and family services programs.

- Participating in team, staff, and interagency meetings.

- Attending Family Ties Collective Conferences with the families.

- Developing a positive network and working relationships with on and off reserve resources.

- Maintaining records and providing monthly reports.

- Adhering to agency policies and provincial legislated regulations.


Education: 2-year social work diploma OR a related social or health field certificate OR experience in community development and family support.

Additional Requirements:
Current and valid Alberta driver’s license; access to vehicle with $2M auto liability insurance; Conditions for hire: submission of a satisfactory Intervention Record Check and Canadian Police Information Center (CPIC) clearances; Submit to an Oath of Confidentiality; Fitness for Duty Policy, and pre-employment drug/alcohol testing; Submission of academic certificates. Personal or access to telephone. Current First Aid certificate (note: training will be provided if certification not currently held).
