Reporting to the Director of WFLFN#459 Child & Family Services Society.
We are seeking a Full-Time dedicated individual to join the WFLFN #459 Child and Family Services Society team in serving children, youth and families within the community of Whitefish Lake First Nation #459. The Prevention Team Lead provides supervision to the Prevention department staff in delivering program services to children and families who are at risk of becoming involved with CFS. The Team Lead coordinates and facilitates community development activities, Family Group Conferences, and creates awareness of the Prevention Program to families, agencies, and community. Hours of work will be Monday to Friday 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Salary will be based on Qualifications and Experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities: Delivers prevention program services to children, youth and families who are at risk of becoming involved with Child and Family Services by:
1. Through volunteer or agency referrals within the community, to work with children/youth/parents who
are experiencing crisis and are at risk of becoming involved in CFS intervention services.
2. Administer the service delivery of the prevention program and provide supervision to the Prevention
department team.
3. Engage families through home visits and encourage participation in community activities.
4. Collaborating with team members and other community agency resources to identify and plan for
community development activities to meet the needs of identified target groups.
5. Developing and facilitating a variety of information workshops/training and/or support groups as
determined by the needs or desires of the community.
6. Create awareness of the prevention program and other local and regional resources and facilitate
access to identified resource services through referrals and advocacy.
7. Work with families to access resources and accessing positive family networks to assist in building on
the strengths of the family.
8. Arrange and facilitate Family Group Conferences.

Requirements

Knowledge and Skills:
The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of the Child, Youth, and Family Enhancement Act; Signs of Safety as well as possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong critical thinking skills and organizational skills. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft applications is required. Additionally, you will be required to demonstrate the skills, knowledge, abilities, and competencies as outlined in the Job Description. Knowledge of the Cree culture and language is a definite asset.

Qualifications:
A Social Work diploma, BSW or MSW or other social sciences diploma with a minimum of 3 years of frontline experience and/or previous experience in a community development and a family support role is preferred. Experience working with; or knowledge of, Indigenous communities and culture is an asset.

Additional Requirements:
Current and valid Alberta driver’s license; access to vehicle with $2M auto liability insurance; Conditions for hire: submission of a satisfactory IRC (Intervention Record Check) and Canadian Police Information Center (CPIC) clearances; Submit to an Oath of Confidentiality; Fitness for Duty pre-employment drug/alcohol testing; Submission of academic certificates. Personal or access to telephone. Current First Aid certificate (note: training will be provided if certification not currently held).
